| Dear Amanda, |
Only 42 instructional days until the End of Grade tests (EOG). The students and staff are being relentless in the pursuit of success.
KIPP Charlotte really needs volunteers to help with tutoring in reading, writing, math and science. If you are able to spare a few hours each week to help our students pass the EOG's please contact Resa Wall at rwall@kippcharlotte.org
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Regards

Muhsin Muhammad Visits KIPP Charlotte |
Carolina Panthers Wide Receiver, Mr. Muhsin Muhammad came to KIPP Charlotte recently. Mr. Muhammad was kind enough to provide words of wisdom to the students, encouraging them to take full advantage of their education.
Mr. Muhammad told the students this story:
Cherokee Story of Two Wolves A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson.
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves."
"One wolf is evil and ugly: He is anger, envy, war, greed, self-pity, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, selfishness and arrogance."
"The other wolf is beautiful and good: He is friendly, joyful, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, justice, fairness, empathy, generosity, true, compassion, gratitude, and deep VISION."
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other human as well."
The grandson paused in deep reflection because of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out; "Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder Cherokee replied, "The wolf that you feed." |
| Corporations Giving Back |
TIAA-CREF recently kicked off their Giving Back for the Greater Good campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to encourage employees to volunteer in the community. Ms. Wall and two KIPP Charlotte students, Mahogany and Jalen thoroughly enjoyed meeting TIAA-CREF staff and telling them all about KIPP Charlotte. "This has been my favorite field trip this year" Mahogany and Jalen.
Employees from Areva recently came to the school during Engineers week. Students thoroughly enjoyed the engineering activities facilitated by the volunteers. Thank you Areva!
Volunteers from IBM took time out of their Saturday to teach KIPP Charlotte students about careers in technology and IT. Students were incredibly engaged and impressed with our wonderful guests. Thank you IBM!
We are so grateful for all of your support. |
