| Dear Reader, |
The school's fiscal year came to an end on June 30, 2009 and KIPP Charlotte sincerely thanks everyone who has supported the organization over the past year and since inception.
In these tough economic times, KIPP Charlotte exceeded the fundraising goal of FY 08/09. This was possible because the Charlotte community has supported the mission and vision of the organization.
This new school year the KIPP Charlotte team will grow from 11 staff members to 25. The student body will grow from 174 students to 270 in grades 5 -7. This growth means it is all the more important that we increase community support.
School Founder and Leader, Keith Burnam had the honor of presenting to the Top-of-The-Week Rotary Club of Charlotte. Mr. Burnam spoke to the club about KIPP Charlotte and how they as community members can "Change the World" through education and service
Please continue to be champions for KIPP Charlotte and the students we serve.
Thank you SO MUCH for supporting the PRIDE!
Regards
KIPP Charlotte

KIPP School Summit
|
On August 3, 2009, the entire team at KIPP Charlotte will travel to Orlando, Florida for 5 days to attend the 7th Annual KIPP School Summit (KSS).
KSS is an annual conference which offers a week of professional development to the KIPP community and partners. The conference is tailored to address the professional needs of school leaders, social workers, teachers, high school placement directors, development directors, business operations directors and board members. KSS also provides an opportunity for our family of schools to share experiences, successes and to become reinvigorated by the KIPP vision and mission.
The vision for KSS is:
- To ensure participants feel the collective power and impact of our broader Team & Family and the overall movement by providing a powerful introduction and reconnection to KIPP.
- To provide an opportunity for big KIPPsters to network and make connections with others by bringing communities together to share, reflect, and learn.
- To provide an opportunity for personal learning and growth.
... all in the service of kicking off the 2009-2010 school year with high energy and building momentum towards the belief of what is possible for our kids and renewing our collective commitment to realizing these possibilities in our KIPP communities across the country.

KIPP Charlotte Welcomes
Mr. Stich
|
In 2006, A.J. Stich graduated from Asbury College where he studied Media Communications. Upon graduation, A.J. spent seven months overseas teaching ESL in northern Taiwan. When he returned to the USA, he joined Teach For America in Memphis, Tennessee. Currently, A.J. is working on his Masters in Teaching degree with the hopes of furthering his career in urban educational environments.
When asked "why did you choose to pursue a position at KIPP Charlotte?", Mr. Stich responded:
"I pursued a position at KIPP because I believe KIPP is an innovator in urban education. One day I would like to be an urban school administrator, and I believe working at KIPP Charlotte will equip with me with skills to do so effectively".
