| Dear Amanda, |
KIPP: Charlotte is incredibly proud of the young people we serve. Whenever we have guests visit the school, students give a firm handshake and look them straight in the eye while they ask "what college did you go to?"
Our students are genuinely focused on their journey to the college of their choice.
In a few short months the academic school year will draw to a close. Anything you can do to help KIPP: Charlotte will be much appreciated. Please consider mentoring a student, becoming a reading buddy or simply spending time at the school to show students and staff the community truly cares.
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek". Barack H. Obama. |

Black History Month |
KIPP: Charlotte students are learning about African American history during the month of February.
The teaching staff has been designing curriculum that educates the students on famous African American mathematicians, scientists and writers. In humanities class, students have been exploring the historical importance of African Diaspora.
The school is also proud to be the venue of a superb collection of African American collector's items.
Mr. Rex Butler set up his collection for the students to view everyday at school during Black History month. Mr. Butler also donated a signed poster of "the mother of the modern-day civil rights movement", Mrs. Rosa Parks.
Thank you so much Mr. Butler for the kindness you have shown KIPP: Charlotte. |
| 6th Grade Book Worms! |
| Since December 2008 the 6th grade students have read over 1000 books. The PRIDE of 2015 has a lofty goal of growing 3 years in their reading level this year. It looks like they are well on their way.
Please consider writing a note to the 6th grade class and teachers to congratulate them on their amazing success.
The current book the Pride of 2015 are reading as a group is Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. Please feel free to contact Ms. Tiffany Flowers, Co-Principal at KIPP: Charlotte if you have any book recommendations. |
