KIPP: Charlotte is a free, college preparatory middle school currently serving 180 fifth and sixth grade boys and girls in East Charlotte. KIPP: Charlotte students are 99% minority and 70% low income. The school serves those who are traditionally underserved and marginalized in education. KIPP: Charlotte will add a grade per year until it is a fully functional middle school serving grades 5 – 8 in 2010.

KIPP: Charlotte provides an environment where the students of Charlotte may develop the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits necessary to succeed in high school, college, and the world beyond. KIPP Charlotte is a member of KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities throughout the United States. There are currently 66 locally-run KIPP schools in 19 states and Washington, DC, which are serving over 12,000 students.
